Alexandra B. Rubin

Alexandra Rubin brings nearly two decades of experience advising employers on complex workplace and regulatory matters. She represents clients before the MCAD and EEOC in discrimination and retaliation matters, and counsels organizations on disciplinary action, internal investigations, employee training, and handbook development.

 

Previously, Alex served as Corporate Counsel at the nation’s largest healthcare education company, where she advised on Title IX compliance, FERPA, academic misconduct investigations, and professional licensure.  She represented the organization in matters before the Department of Education and provided strategic guidance on disability and religious accommodations requests, interactive process compliance, and related policy development.  Alex also served as Deputy General Counsel for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, advising agency leadership on employment law, federal and state emergency preparedness, public records and ethics compliance, and regulatory matters including FERPA and HIPAA.  In that role, she served as the state-wide attorney for school health matters and worked closely with the office of local and regional health advising boards of health.

 

Earlier in her career, Alex was an associate at an Am Law 100 firm, where she counseled and represented medical organizations, private educational institutions, and nonprofit entities in labor and employment litigation and workplace counseling matters.  She began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Maureen McKenna Goldberg, Senior Associate Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court.

Alex holds a specialty credential in workplace investigations from the Society for Human Resource Management and is admitted to practice in the State of New York, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Alex earned her law degree magna cum laude from Suffolk University Law School, where she served as the Executive Editor of the Suffolk University Law Review. She is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Rhode Island and its Honors Program, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Communications.
