Christopher H. Heep

Christopher H. Heep leads our land use and planning practice and devotes a significant portion of his practice to working with municipal permitting boards, planning departments, and inspection and enforcement officials on matters relating to zoning, Chapter 40B, subdivision control, and wetlands. Chris has significant experience representing permitting boards throughout the local hearing process and, when their decisions have been appealed and require a defense, in court. He frequently works with towns looking to adopt changes to zoning bylaws, and has authored countless new zoning bylaws and subdivision regulations.

Chris is also experienced in acquisition and disposal of municipal interests in real property, including Chapter Land, open space and conservation land. Chris received his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law, and began his law career serving as Law Clerk to the Honorable Gordon H. Piper of the Massachusetts Land Court. He was a contributing author of a Chapter entitled “Municipal Real Estate Transactions” in MCLE’s Massachusetts Municipal Law (2nd edition 2015).

 

Since 2011, Chris has been a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Watertown, where he also coaches youth baseball, soccer and basketball.
